A PRAYER FOR MUSICIANS

Thank you, O God, for giving me the privilege
of leading the praise of your people in your house.

Help me always to remember
that this is not an opportunity to show off my talents,
but to serve you and your people in your house.

Therefore, banish from my heart every thought of self-pride
and help me to sing and to make music
only because I truly love you with my whole heart.

Help me to remember that there are those whose hearts
can be reached and touched by music even more than by speech;
help me also to remember that I have a ministry
and that I too can bring someone to you.

This I ask in Jesus’ name and for his sake.
Amen.
