Blessed John XXIII
FUNERAL RECEPTIONS COMMITTEE

When a loved one or friend dies, our first reaction is to try to help those who are grieving by relieving them of some of the arrangements inherent in organizing a funeral. The funeral is a ceremony of proven worth and value for those who mourn. It provides an opportunity for the family members and others who share in the loss to express their love, respect, grief and appreciation for the life of their loved one.

There exists in our parish a group of dedicated, compassionate people, who offer their services to families at this very confusing and sad time in their lives. The Parish Funeral Reception Committee, whenever called upon to do so, will prepare and serve food for funeral receptions held here in our Parish.

Depending upon the wishes of the particular family, the luncheon usually consists of small sandwiches, open-faced buns, cheese, pickles, vegetables and fruit platters if requested, and dainties, as well as coffee, tea and juice. Families have the option of luncheon being served after the funeral Mass or after the Burial.

The family, when meeting with the Pastor to make arrangements for the funeral ceremony, should advise if a reception is desired and the approximate number of guests. The Pastor will then contact the Funeral Reception Committee Coordinators:

  • Margaret Houston (888-5374)
  • Dianne Geith (832-3651)
