COUNTING TEAM

  • The purpose of the counting teams is to take charge of weekly collections. They open parishioners' contribution envelopes, enter the contributions against parishioners' envelope numbers, and then total the bills, coins, and cheques. They account separately for special collections and earmarked contributions.

  • There are seven teams of four individuals. Each team of four serves every seventh Sunday, during and after Mass. One of the four serves as captain, and is responsible for finalizing the deposit and lodging it in the bank. Information about collections is forwarded on a form to the Pastor and to the Accountant.

  • A commitment to an honest, accurate accounting of Parish collections is the main requirement. Adding machine, banking, and/or computer experience are additional assets. Individuals who join a counting team receive as much briefing as they need to master the task.
